Make a Spotify Canvas with a music visualizer
Tracks with a Canvas get shared more and skipped less, but most artists settle for a stock loop or a slow zoom on the cover art. vizz.fm is a free music visualizer that reacts to your track while it plays. Record 3 to 8 seconds of it and you have a Canvas made from the song itself. Today that takes OBS or a screen recorder; one-click export is on the way.
Why a visualizer makes a great Canvas
A Canvas is small, silent, and on screen the entire time someone plays your track. Static artwork wastes it, and the loops from Canvas generator apps tend to look like everyone else's. With a visualizer the motion comes from your song. Capture the chorus and the loop moves like the chorus does.
vizz.fm has dozens of 3D scenes with hundreds of adjustable controls, so you can match the visuals to your cover art palette and the mood of the release, then reuse the same look across every track on the record.
How to make one today
Until one-click export ships (see below), the capture step runs through OBS or any screen recorder. It is the same setup our streaming guide uses, and it takes about fifteen minutes the first time.
- Open the visualizer and play your track. The easiest route is screen sharing with system audio, which works with Spotify, a bounce from your DAW, or a local file.
- Pick a scene and tune it to the song. Slow, continuous motion loops best.
- In OBS, set the canvas to 1080x1920 (Settings, then Video), add a window capture of the fullscreen visualizer, and scale it so the liveliest part of the scene fills the frame. Our OBS guide covers the capture setup.
- Record thirty seconds or so around your favorite section, then trim the best 3 to 8 seconds in any editor (CapCut and iMovie are free) and export as MP4.
- In Spotify for Artists, open the track, choose Add Canvas, and upload the loop.
