Hey, I'm Mat.

VIZZ is one person: a software engineer and designer with over 20 years of experience. I fell in love with music while being mesmerized by the visualizers that came with Winamp and iTunes. Modern media players quietly dropped this feature, so I've spent the past year building the successor they never got.

I've been at this a while

I have a long history of making shapes wiggle to music. In 2014 I built PartyMode, an open-source music visualizer that ran in the browser, which at the time was a dubious place to put one. It picked up 800+ stars on GitHub, and that same year I made the official visuals for ODESZA's album In Return. Those videos have been watched more than 80 million times. In 2016 I started Absurd Music Visualizations, a series of animations driven by code and sound.

After a long hiatus, I'm back with VIZZ, my latest and most ambitious attempt: a music visualizer that is free, beautiful, and endlessly customizable. Every scene is carefully crafted, with over 70 presets between them, and I'm adding more all the time (see the changelog).
